Gunda Werner: Kirche ruft nach Menschenrechten und verwiklicht sie nicht.



Mit der Erklärung "Dignitas infinita" will der Vatikan die Menschenwürde ins Zentrum stellen – 75 Jahre nach der Allgemeinen Erklärung der Menschenrechte der Vereinten Nationen. Schon immer sei die Menschenwürde der Leitstern für die Kirche gewesen, liest man in dem Dokument. Dass die Kirche aber lange Zeit Menschenrechte verdammte und erst 15 Jahre nach der UN-Erklärung ein positives Verhältnis zu ihnen fand, bleibt außen vor. Die Bochumer Professorin für Dogmatik und Dogmengeschichte Gunda Werner sieht daher keinen Fortschritt in der Erklärung. Im Gegenteil: Immer noch setze die Kirche sich nicht mit ihrer eigenen Schuldgeschichte der Diskriminierung und Verletzung von Menschenrechten bis heute auseinander ...

Nihil Obstat Studie

Studie zum Nihil Obstat ist veröffentlich. Im Auftrag von AGENDA – Forum katholischer Theologinnen e.V. – hat das Zentrum für angewandte Pastoralforschung (zap) in Bochum eine Studie zum Verfahren des Nihil Obstat und dessen Auswirkung durchgeführt. Sie wurde bei der Mitgliederversammlung des katholisch-theologischen Fakultätentags 2024 in Mainz nun von Prof. Dr. Gunda Werner und Dr. Miriam Zimmer vorgestellt. In ihr wird deutlich: das Verfahren der kirchlichen Lehrerlaubnis ist bestimmt von Angst, Druck und Intransparenz.

Seminar mit Exkursion zum Katholikentag nach Erfurt

Der Lehrstuhl für Dogmatik und Dogmengeschichte bietet im Sommersemester 2024 ein Seminar "Pluralitätsfähigkeit und kulturelle Kontextualität als Erfordernis theologischer Gottesrede" mit einer Exkursion zum 103. Katholikentag (29. Mai bis 2. Juni 2024) an.

Judith Butler, Michel Foucault, and the Theology of Freedom

This book explores how Judith Butler’s work on gender and the shaping of the human subject and Michel Foucault's notion of parrhesia, ‘speaking the truth’, can be made fruitful for a theology of freedom. The volume illustrates the importance of three concepts - freedom, gender (body) and power (critique) - and how this triad provides the foundational categories and structural elements of a theology of freedom. By starting from an analysis of power and the performative potential of gendered embodiment, freedom can be thought of as the basis of creative and critical human action and thereby implemented in theology. The chapters feature several theological-historical case studies that are representative of topics that continue to shape contemporary Catholic norms and thought. In particular, the author reflects on the 13th century with the idea of personal sin and confession, and the 19th century with a gender ideology that has led to the marginalization of difference and dissent. The book shows how Butler and Foucault can provide essential insights for Catholic theology and is valuable reading for scholars of religion, philosophy, and gender and sexuality studies.
